Communication must be cultivated on both sides, leading ultimately to improved health outcomes. <strong>Lack of understanding<\/strong> and <strong>disregard<\/strong> are two factors that certainly do not help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proctology, as an integral part of medicine, also falls within this framework. However, here things are considerably more complex, and the reason is simple. The <strong>nature<\/strong> of the anatomical <strong>area of the anus<\/strong>, as well as the <strong>values and social beliefs<\/strong> formed throughout human civilization, create countless obstacles. The proctologist and the patient are called upon to overcome these obstacles, which are mainly related to <strong>demeaning behaviors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Proper Approach of the Proctologist<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The practice of proctology is based on the <strong>warm<\/strong> and <strong>friendly attitude<\/strong> of the physician towards the patient. <strong>Respect<\/strong> for the diversity of fellow human beings must be guaranteed. The interaction between the two sides should occur in an atmosphere of <strong>mutual trust<\/strong> and <strong>cordiality<\/strong>. Usually, people suffering from conditions in this area are <strong>embarrassed<\/strong> to speak about their problem and approach medical staff with suspicion. Unfortunately, however, there are also health professionals who address these individuals in a <strong>rude<\/strong> and <strong>vulgar<\/strong> manner, often with an attitude that borders on <strong>racism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proctologist must treat patients <strong>without prejudice<\/strong> and <strong>taboos<\/strong>, regardless of the type of condition they present. Equally important, however, is the ability to understand and <strong>respect the personality<\/strong> of the patient as if it were their own\u2014that which we otherwise call <strong>EMPATHY!<\/strong> The physician must also not forget the importance of <strong>non-verbal communication<\/strong>.
